“Our story began unexpectedly in the summer of 2021, with the discovery of rich clay soil while digging a small pond. This simple find sparked a vivid childhood memory of a grade school teacher, a lump of clay, and the magic of a small kiln transforming earth into a tangible cup. Inspired by this recollection and further research revealing Mississippi’s deep-rooted pottery tradition – home to renowned artists like McCarty Pottery, Peter’s Pottery, Etta B Pottery, and Satterfield’s Pottery, all crafting their legacies from local clay – a new passion took hold. With the purchase of a beginner’s wheel and the guidance of online tutorials, we embarked on a journey to explore the artistic potential that God had placed within us.

“Our journey into pottery has taken on an even deeper meaning. Unbeknownst to us at the time, this newfound passion was also paving a path forward during an unexpected and challenging season. In May of 2023, a significant illness led to a disability that made it impossible for me to return to my profession as a carpenter. While this brought unforeseen hardship, it also created an opportunity to fully immerse myself in the art of the potter’s wheel, allowing for dedicated time to learn and refine my skills. Alongside this, Shana has passionately pursued the intricacies of proper glazings and techniques, adding another vital dimension to our craft. What started as a simple curiosity has evolved into a meaningful endeavor, providing not only a creative outlet but also a way to navigate new circumstances and to this all Glory and Honor is due to our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ!
